In January 2018, Carol Culpepper and her daughter opened the doors to Paws Mahal in Sherwood, just outside Little Rock, creating a dedicated space where dog training, boarding, and daycare could work together.
Before Paws Mahal became a dog daycare and training facility in Central Arkansas, it was one woman with a deep love for dogs, inviting wagging tails into her home for years.
“I had been doing private, in-home training for approximately seven years," Carol said. "We began with paper records. We were blessed with growth and started with a program that did not meet our needs.”
From day one, Carol and her daughter laid the groundwork to improve behavior, strengthen communication, and support pet parents in building calmer, more confident relationships with their pets.
Today, the team is made up of dog trainers, veterinary technicians, and professional handlers with over 50 years of combined experience. Carol's favorite part about running her business? Helping clients find peace with their dogs.
"Ask the animals, and they will teach you. It is a joyful life to do what you were designed and created for," Carol said.
Structured Daycare with a Training Mindset
What truly sets Paws Mahal apart is that everything, even daycare, is approached through the lens of training and behavior.
Their programs target real-life challenges that families face every day:
- Proper play to stop biting, nipping, or jumping
- Impulse control to curb bolting and running away
- Leash manners for public outings
- Cue work (obedience) for calm responses
- Benevolent leadership to build responsiveness
- Polite manners for safe greetings
- Potty training and more
Even enrichment add-ons, from dental stick treats and peanut butter Kongs to nail trims, ear cleaning, and Furmination—are offered with the same attention to detail and care.
The goal is to build confident, balanced companions — not just tire them out at the end of the day.

From New Beginnings to Purpose-Built Growth
Growth is a gift, but it also exposes cracks in systems that no longer fit. As Paws Mahal expanded beyond paper files and small, in-home lessons, the team needed software that could keep up with the increasing complexity of services, client communication, and operational demands.
Paws Mahal previously used DogBiz Pro software to help with their pet-care business management, but it wasn’t enough.
“We needed better integration and much more detail," she said.
For a pet business built on behavior consulting and customized care, details matter. Notes about temperament, training progress, health requirements, and owner communication were essential for their operations.
“With continued grace and growth, we chose to go with Gingr, as we had both used it at a previous daycare facility," Carol said. "We are very pleased and delighted with the continual additions and improvements!”
Saving Time and Optimizing Operations with Gingr
Because Carol and her team had prior experience with Gingr's software for dog boarding, daycare, and training, the transition felt like coming home to a system they trusted. The familiarity and functionality made it easy to seamlessly work the system into their growing business.
“The reports and ability to record individual dog and owner notes is fundamentally valuable as we grow," Carol said.
Reporting has been integral in Paws Mahall's forecasting for the future. Easy access to financial, facility, pet, and owner reports has spared the team from wasting precious hours digging through data (when they could be spending those moments with the dogs).
"It has saved tremendous amounts of time,” Carol said.
For an owner balancing staffing plans, service demand, and long-term goals, having clear reporting and centralized data provides more than just convenience, of course. It provides confidence; instead of chasing down paperwork or second-guessing projections, Carol can see exactly how the business is performing.
And that clarity ripples outward into better service.

Elevating the Client Experience Through Communication
At Paws Mahal, structure is intentional. Their daycare program is designed around balanced energy and polite interaction.
Dogs rotate between supervised playtime and quiet time in cozy private kennels to decompress and avoid overstimulation. Small playgroups are hand-selected based on play style, size, and temperament. For dogs who aren’t ready for group interaction, solo enrichment sessions provide mental and physical stimulation. Throughout the day, pups automatically work on leash manners and patience.
Overnight boarding follows the same philosophy. Dogs are housed in private kennels but integrated into the daily routine with group or solo play. Medication administration is available, and familiar items from home are welcome. This kind of thoughtful, individualized care demands clear communication with pet parents, and that’s where Gingr’s tools have made a noticeable difference.
“Reservations, check-ins, reports — I find all of the features advantageous as I learn them,” Caroln said.
One feature, in particular, has strengthened client trust: Report cards.
“Customer satisfaction has been very impacted with the report card feature,” she said.
Report cards give pet parents insight into their dog’s day: how they played, how they behaved, and what they’re learning. For a training-focused facility, this transparency reinforces progress and helps owners stay involved in their dog’s development. Meanwhile, internal communication has improved as well.
“The training team is delighted with the new call recording system," Carol said. "It will tremendously help our in-house communications!”

Growing with Grace
With a growing team and plans to add more members, Paws Mahal continues to expand its impact across Central Arkansas, helping families move from frustration with their own training efforts to understanding their pets better.
And with the right systems in place, growth for Carol and her team feels sustainable.
Having integrated reporting, detailed notes, streamlined reservations, and improved communication doesn’t just save time—it supports the bigger mission: helping clients find peace with their dogs and confidence in their care.
When you’re managing a team of 10 (and growing), alignment matters. Having better documentation and communication ensures everyone stays on the same page regarding client expectations, behavior updates, and service details.
