How Pups Playhouse Found Its Stride With Gingr

This week marks a special milestone for Pups Playhouse—five years of welcoming wagging tails, wet noses, and playful paws through their doors in Wexford, Pennsylvania. Since opening in July 2020, the dog daycare, boarding, and grooming facility has become a beloved part of the local pet community. And it all started with a Puggle named Daisy.

“We opened in July 2020. Our Puggle, Daisy, who currently is 12 years old, is the true inspiration of Pups Playhouse," said Owner and Operator (and Daisy's mom) Judith Cipriani.

After many conversations and brainstorming sessions with her husband, Craig, Judith decided to leave her career in finance and enter the world of pet care.

Judith spent over three years planning her new venture, attending dog daycare conventions, researching best practices, and crafting a vision that combined exceptional care with enrichment and fun.

"Daisy attended another dog daycare regularly for years, so we knew a little bit about it," she said.

She and Craig finally found the perfect space—a former motorcycle showroom and service station totaling 6,000 square feet—and got to work. Despite delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, they opened their doors that July and haven’t looked back.

A Facility Built for Fun

Today, Pups Playhouse is a vibrant and welcoming environment that offers so much more than your average dog daycare. 

The space is thoughtfully designed to keep dogs active, social, and stimulated. From indoor rubber flooring and agility equipment to a dog treadmill, play furniture, and deluxe bedding, pups enjoy the best of recreation and relaxation. 

The facility's climate-controlled spaces are designed with both safety and comfort in mind.

"The one building is for the overnight stays, while the second building is for playtime fun," Judith said. "The buildings are connected via a 1000-square-foot yard."

Whether it’s daycare, sleepovers, or grooming, every pup is treated like family. Holidays are celebrated with themed parties and treats, and the staff of dog lovers regularly hosts creative events like the "Pups Playhouse Prom," complete with red carpet arrivals, watermelon slices, pup cups, prom king and queen, and plenty of dancing (or playful zoomies).

When Judith first discovered Gingr at a pet industry expo in Hershey, PA, the software made a lasting impression..

“Gingr was represented very well," Judith said. "There were other dog daycare software systems... [One of the Gingr reps] did a great job explaining Gingr. Then another patron of the convention pulled me aside and said, "Gingr is by far the best.'”

Getting started with new software can be overwhelming, but Gingr’s support team helped make the onboarding process smooth for Judith and her team of about a dozen full and part-time staff members.

"Getting it up and running and learning how to find all the various elements... I feel for the first month, I probably contacted the help desk multiple times a day."
