Founded by Cortney Gilbertson, a professional dog trainer, Memphis & Co. is home to a passionate team of handlers, trainers, and caregivers who live and breathe canine behavior.

“We’re not just trainers and handlers," Cortney said. "We’re advocates for better communication, confident handling, and happier dogs."

From Passion to a Successful Business

After eight years in the pet-care industry, Cortney was ready to venture into entrepreneurship. She started Memphis & Co. in September 2023 but spent the previous eight years working in the pet-care industry. She started working on her own business plan in 2019.

"My employer at the time encouraged me to take the leap and start my own entity," she said.

 When she first went out on her own, she ran all of my services out of her house, which she quickly outgrew.

"In June 2024, we moved out to the country with acreage and an established building to dedicate to my business," she said. "We have had some rapid growth since the beginning that I am very proud and thankful for.”

Within just one year, Memphis & Co. had expanded to a larger facility, hired two employees, and added new services to meet growing demand.

Memphis & Co. offers a range of training options, with its Obedience Stay & Train and Behavior Modification programs standing out as client favorites.

Their Stay & Train program allows dogs to live with trainers for immersive, personalized instruction. Each plan is tailored to the dog’s unique personality and the owner’s goals, covering everything from foundational obedience to complex behavioral issues.

Every Stay & Train experience includes:

• One-on-one, customized training sessions
• Necessary take-home training equipment
• A comprehensive “Go-Home Lesson” for owners
• Unlimited follow-up lessons for up to one year

For Cortney, the most rewarding part of her work is seeing transformation on both ends of the leash.

“I love educating owners and helping them better understand their dogs and watching humans and their dogs’ relationships flourish,” she said.

Memphis & Co.’s Daycare and Overnight Care programs reflect the same thoughtful approach. Each service is designed to meet dogs where they are, whether that's social and playful with other pups or more reserved and people-focused.

With structured enrichment, adventure walks, and plenty of rest, every furry client receives individualized attention and care.

And for dogs who love the great outdoors, the Adventure Day program is a dream come true. Dogs enjoy field trips to over 30 acres of private property with grassy fields, timber, and a pond. It's a paradise for exploration, swimming, and sniffing.

Adding a New Pet Wellness Space 

Memphis & Co. is continuing to expand its mission of holistic, well-rounded pet care with an exciting new venture: a downtown Monroe, WI, location focused on dog wellness, nutrition, and education.

Cortney and her team are creating a space that reflects their belief that great training is just one part of a dog’s wellbeing. The new location will feature premium dog food, holistic, and herbal-based supplements, plus high-quality canine products, all designed to support long-term health and happiness.

Beyond retail, the expansion will also include grooming services, canine chiropractic care through Flying M Chiropractic, and PEMF therapy provided by TMP Therapy. As Cortney shared, “Training is our core foundation and what I love doing, teaching, and growing the most. But training alone isn’t enough to give our dogs the best quality of life.”

With this new addition, Memphis & Co. aims to provide more convenience for pet parents while enriching the downtown Monroe community with accessible, professional pet wellness services. 

Staying Organized and Growing with Gingr

As Memphis & Co. expanded and continues to grow, Cortney knew she needed a reliable way to manage her growing schedule, reservations, and client communication. Having used Gingr at a previous facility, she turned to the platform once again for her own business.
